Detailed accomplishments
- Architected, built, and currently maintain a
cluster of 6 MS Exchange 2000 servers with a Sendmail
frontend. The Exchange servers are comprised of
5 mailbox servers and 1 SMTP gateway. The sendmail
server is a frontend server that receives mail
from the internet, and checks DNS blacklists before forwarding the mail to
the SMTP gateway which then does spam checking, virus checking, and
forwards the mail on to the individual mailbox server.
- Architected, built, and currently maintain a
cluster of 3 MS SQL 2000 servers and 2 MySQL
servers. The MS SQL servers are all set up to replicate their databases
between servers. The MySQL servers are a master
and slave which are using replication as well. These are 5 database
servers in a datacenter of over 10 database servers, all of which I manage.
- Installed, configured, and currently maintain a Nagios network monitoring system which monitors everything
from host availability, service availability, and our datacenter HVAC
system and battery backups. Respond within 30 minutes to any outage
reported by the software on a 24x7 basis.
- Manage and maintain a series of over 28 cascading
firewalls that connect our office to remote customer locations using
hardware VPN devices or closed circuits.
- Manage all facility services such as the PBX
system, the HVAC system for the datacenter, and an under-floor battery
backup system with 33 batteries and 6 2500W inverters.

HOBBIES
I program
as a hobby both inside and outside of the workplace. I have written things such
as C programs that interface to a Microsoft SQL server using blowfish
encryption to an extremely complex IRC robot in Perl. I also wrote a Radius
Authentication and Provisioning system in C and Perl to update/authenticate off
of a backend MySQL Database using libmysqlclient
and DBD::mysql Perl modules.
I am an extremely quick learner and enjoy discovering new
things and acquiring new skills. Anything that is thrown at me is something I
will enjoy doing, especially if it is something I have never done.
